Registration data on usp-pl.net suggests a Chinese origin. The domain name usp-pl.com is registered to WhoisGuardProtected, a company in Panama. The .net website talks a lot about cooperation and lists a couple of conferences.

The .com website houses Universe Scientific Publishing journals such as "Nature·Science·Human" (ISSN: 2251-2594), which is "aiming at the reality of the rise of China" by "introducing China's academic achievements to the world." The contact address is Universe Scientific Publishing Pte. Ltd., Editorial Office, 35 Hougang Avenue 7 #04-07, Singapore 538802, 0065-6753-8753, contact@usp-pl.com.

JScholar wants "to curve the future of scientific world"

The "JScholar Vision" is "[e]merging on a custom of editorial excellence for framing the network that brings together the specialized journals to provide enhanced access to the research, reviews and to curve the future of scientific world." The journals promise publication within 28 days. At least, I think that is what the publisher means by "The duration for publishing an article is 28 days." The "Author Guidelines" also state that the articles will be plagiarized -- "The received manuscripts will undergo plagiarism (copying text or results from other sources) for its uniqueness and also self-plagiarism (duplicating substantial parts of authors' own published work without giving the appropriate references) by Quality Analysts.".

The ownership of JScholar is not obvious. Under "CONTACT INFO," the homepage has the address of JScholar Publishers, 185 E Homestead Rd, Sunnyvale, CA 94087, +1 (607) 523-4092. But the "CONTACT US" page uses 18170 Dallas Pkwy Suite 104, Dallas Texas 75287, +14692832220. An apartment house is located at the Sunnyvale address.

That address, by the way, is also the address of Clerisy Publishers. The websites have remarkable similarities. For example,

However, the domain jscholarpublishers.com (used in the spam from an IP address in India) is registered to "paul" with the address "begumpet, Hyderabad 500016 India, +91.739690499, bigrock@jscholarpublishers.com."

Biomedical Conferences Claims the Journals of Other (?) Publishers

One would imagine that Biomedical Conferences is just a conference organizer. But its website features "our journals" as "a singular repository" for "acclaimed scientific authors" seeking to reach "like-minded peers." There are more journals than I care to count on the list of "our journals." Some have ISSNs; some don't. Almost all (based on a sample of clicks) are published by three ostensibly separate publishers -- Crimson, Iris, and Lupine Publishers. Examples from the Biomedical Conferences list include

Is it a coincidence that the webpages of both this flaky journal and the Biomedical Conferences webpages are copyrighted by Lupine Publishers LLC and that the spam for Biomedical Conferences came from Lupine Publishers? The Aurora, Colorado, "editorial offices" of Lupine Press are a four-bedroom house at the registered address of both Crimson and Lupine Publishers. Postings on Crimson, Iris, and Lupine Publishers have more information about them and one man, Sudheer Kaku, who may be behind them.

Although Lupine purports to operate out of New York City, Buzzfile's address for it is a four bedroom home at 7865 S Grand Baker St., Aurora, CO 80016. The New York City address is a Regus Virtual Office that provides what the company calls a "professional address" for putting "your business in the best possible location with a credible address and mail handling service."

Lupine Publishers spams for OMICS-related conferences. An email from the subtly named Peer Reviewed Journal of Forensic & Genetic Sciences (below) advertised a production of the Biomedical Conferences LLC, which seems to be a name used by Conference Series, which is an OMICS domain. Conference Series, Lupine Publishers, Iris Publishers, and Crimson Publishers are just some of the enterprises whose domains are registered to Sudheer Kaku, "Software Engineer and Web Developer in Aurora, Colorado."

The peers involved in the Peer Reviewed Journal of Forensic and Genetic Sciences do not seem to care too much about whether the articles concern forensic science or genetics. For example, A New Demographic Situation and Problems of Employment in Uzbekistan describes the disturbing rate of unemployment in the country but sounds an optimistic note: "The country leader based on the adopted state programs completely stimulated the steady growth of creation of jobs and employment of the population."

The Center for Contemporary Research is an elusive publisher. No website for it appears in the first several pages of results from a search for the name. The website of the journal that spammed me (the International Journal of Business Management and Commerce (IJBMC)) identifies CCR as its publisher but has no link to it. It states

The same description -- word for word, and capitalization error for capitalization error -- appears on the website of the International Journal of Social Science and Business (IJSSB), which identifies the Center for Academic Research (CAR), as its publisher:The single difference is the substitution of "Academic" (and "A" in the acronym) for "Contemporary." The navigation bars have the same nine tabs in the same order, and the two sites use the same animated gif that blinks between "Submit paper" and "Click Here." Finally, the dubious UK address and the Bangladesh ones are the same, which puts both (or is it one?) in the same Portsmouth townhouse as the Research Institute for Progression of Knowledge (RIPK).

The domain name of ijbmcnet.com is registered by Kazi Arifur Rahman, who gives his mailing address as Uttara, Dhaka, Dhaka Dhaka 1230 Bangladesh, and other contact information as +016.5377842, kaziarif.it@gmail.com.
