SciRes Literature Promises a "High prevalence of Publishing"

"SciRes Literature LLC. brings a genuine research to you all Journals rigorously relevant to the topics of Science." The company's website lists 57 online journals. I looked at one, the American Journal of Rare Disorders: Diagnosis & Therapy (AJRDDT), for a taste of what they are like. Three pages on an "Egyptian Case of Parry-Romberg Syndrome" comprise the entire American journal. No editor-in-chief is named, but with only two editors listed, maybe none is necessary. The two editors are said to be Mohamed Ateia (Clemson University, France), and Ken H. Young (The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, USA). As far as I know, Clemson University is in the United States, and a Mohamed Ateia there is a postdoc in the Department of Environmental Engineering and Earth Science. Ken H. Young is a professor in the Department of Hematopathology MD Anderson Cancer Center.

It offers to "extend [my] potency to all over the world."

UPDATE 1/15/22: Among the best comments received are ones

  • quoting an email addressed to "Dear Doctor" beginning with the hope that "everything is groovy at you!" and continuing "This is a righteous reminder to request your quiescent contribution of innovative article towards our American Journal of Rare Disorders"
  • soliciting the recipient to be a peer reviewer with a "fairly generous time frame at 4-5 days" for the review
  • reporting the publication in the Open Journal of Surgery of the author's spoof on "ostentatious implantation" (surgery performed "in full morning-dress with top-hat and white gloves") of a foot into the mouths of "entirely fabricated patients" to cope with a condition afflicting "the genus politica and associated ruling castes," attributed to the "increasing prevalence of Higg’s bosons in proximity to Large Hadron Colliders" and "funded by a grant from the Universal Sadist Association" (paper at https://www.scireslit.com/Surgery/OJS-ID20.pdf

ScienceForecast is for "current and future forecast of all categories in science"

ScienceForecast Publications LLC lists about thirty mostly medical journals. There are reports of invitations issued to faculty to be editors with little or no regard to their qualifications. The instructions to authors advise that "Author wish to publish an article or manuscript should be related subject line as that of a particular journal."

The journal that spammed me is the Journal of Forensic Medicine Forecast. It is not limited to forensic medicine (present, past, forecasted), but " covers all the areas like digital and multimedia sciences, ... forensic physical evidence, ... crime scene investigation, ... etc." It is infatuated with toxicology, listing such subjects as "toxicological, human toxicology, applied toxicology, experimental toxicology, and environmental toxicology." It started in 2018 and has one issue with two "editions."

The US editors are said to be
Eric R. Braverman, USC Keck School of Medicine
(not listed in the USC directory as a faculty member, but an Eric K. Braver is a co-author with Kenneth Blum in the very flaky Medical Research Archives (and elsewhere); is on the quackwatch website, has had his medical license suspended; founded and directed a health service provider found by the New York Attorney General to have engaged in deceptive and misleading business practices)
Kenneth Blum, University of Florida
(not in the University of Florida directory, but a Bloomberg database lists Kenneth Blum as an "Adjunct Full Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, The University of Florida, College of Medicine and McKnight Brain Institute in Gainsville, Florida," and formerly a "Full Professor at the Department of Pharmacology, University of Texas"; Wikipedia states that a Kenneth Blum "originated the term 'reward deficiency syndrome', a concept that is largely recognized as pseudoscience" and that "Blum is listed by Quackwatch as a promoter of questionable health products"; a Kenneth Blum speaks at OMICS conferences and edits (and is the principal author of) a self-promoting journal for a publisher on Beall's list of predatory journals)
Lewis Mustard, University of California
(LinkedIn lists a "lewis mustard, Professor at UCLA Extension, Durham, North Carolina" who has a Ph.D. in health administration from Union Institute and University and was the CEO of a consulting firm)
Spokeo indicates that the address of 14439, Turin Ln, Centreville, VA 20121, provided in the email and website is that of a three-bedroom condominium occupied by K. Roa, S. Koduru, D. Scott, R. Scott, and R. Somers. The domain scienceforecastoa.com is registered to Privacy Protect LLC, but the IP address is in Mumbai, India.

Phronesis is "for an author who resembles in the scientific community"

Phronesis LLC lists 24 journals on its website, www.phronesisonline.com. According to Zoominfo, Phronesis LLC is a Delaware company that has $6.2 million of revenue and 31 employees. The company "aspire[s] to expand the knowledge in science and its discoveries that leads its way to new inventions which structures brilliant benefits and for betterment in human lives." An answer to a frequently asked question on the Phronesis website is that "[a]ll articles published by Phronesis journals are peer-reviewed and as this is start up journal we are not yet indexed anywhere." Compared to journals that make misleading claims about indexing, this answer is refreshing.

The first journal on the list is Current Research in Applied Physics. It has no named editor-in-chief, no past articles, no articles in press, and nothing under review. But it plans to have an "inaugural issue" at the end of April 2019. Toward this end, it has "Publication Ethics" that "is a very important tool for an author who resembles in the scientific community." And, it has an editorial board consisting of
⊖ Yongli Gao, Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Rochester, USA
⊖ Ephraim Suhir, Physical Sciences and Engineering Research Division, Portland State University, USA
⊖ Thomas F. George, University of Missouri-St. Louis, USA
⊖ Ramesh Agarwal, Department of Aerospace Engineering, Wichita State University, USA
⊖ Luigi Maxmilian Caligiuri, Foundation of Physics Research Center, University and Scientific Research (MIUR), Italy
⊖ Victor V. Apollonov, A.M. Prokhorov General Physics Institute of RAS, Russia
⊖ Vladimir V. Rumyantsev, A.A. Galkin Donetsk Institute for Physics and Engineering, Ukraine
⊖ Maros Halama, Institute of Materials, Technical University of Kosice, Slovakia
⊖ Mohsen Challan, Department of Physics, University of Majmaah, Al-Zulfi, Saudi Arabia
The second journal, the Phronesis Journal of Nanotechnology and Nanomedicine, has no editorial board and no editor-in-chief, but it announces that "Editor-in-Chief‘s shapes the research that is being done and being on the cutting edge of the latest advancements of your field that are the true rewards." I stopped perusing the website at this point.

The company's domain, phronesisonline.com, is registered to DomainsByProxy.com. The address it uses is provided, for a monthly fee, by Davinci Virtual Office Solutions. This firm advertises that
At our virtual office locations in Malvern Business Center, 5 Great Valley Parkway, Malvern, PA 19355 we have everything to meet your virtual business needs. Lexis wants "a worldwide and everlasting bond"

Lexis publishers (not to be confused with the LexisNexis information service) has eight journals. The publishing website states (3/1/19) that
"Launched in the year 2013, the Lexis Group comprising of Lexis Academy and Lexis Press, has come a long way in publishing sector."
One learns that
"Lexis Publisher compliments your worries about privacy on the Internet. This policy summaries what kind of your data will be collected by using this website, what we will do with collected data and our determinations to guard your privacy."
With a penchant for prose like this, what might Lexis do to your manuscripts?

I only looked at the website for the Journal of Biology and Today's World. Its "Guide for Authors" has this similarly inimitable introduction:
According to importance of researches in biological & medical sciences, Accuracy in selection of high-quality journal in these fields is essential. Journal of Biology and Today's World with the Supreme system that provided by the Lexis Academy, promised to the academic world, do efforts to having a qualify journal. Also, due to the more important role of biomedical research in living life, it was necessary with stringent quality control parameters, we can publish more accurately researches. Our other important goal is the establishment of peaceful and friendship between peoples from various nations; Experts from different countries that help us to control this journal is a good evidence for this purpose. No matter who are you for Journal of Biology and Today's World and exactly editorial process will exactly done for all submissions. Decision on all submitted manuscripts is independed to Nationality, academic degree and any relations to journal. This journal has not any agreement with any person or organization to facilitate acceptance or review process. If you found these abuses immediately inform office of the journal through this email: info@lexispublisher.com.
Although the National Library of Medicine rejected the journal for its collection, the journal's website proudly includes an NLM ID number. That number is merely for cataloguing. It identifies the journal as published in Iran by Marvdasht : Masoud Negahdary. The journal's ISSN also comes from the Iranian National Library and Archives.

The results of further efforts to track down who is responsible for these journals and conferences are given on the Flaky Academic Conferences blog.
